Mga sagót sa mga pangkaraniwang tanóng (FAQ):
Anak Bathala (Anak Bat-ha-la) is Tagalog for "God Spawn". From: Anak - n. child, offspring; and Bathala - n. God. Not to be confused with the terms - "Anak ni Bathala" (God's Child) or "Anak ng Bathala" (Child of God). Anak Bathala is anything that is directly created by God, a God, or Goddess.
Anak Bathala is a
free to download and free to play 2D MMORPG, built using the Player
Worlds engine. All you need to do to play it is download the client,
register an account, create a character, and play.
MMORPG stands for
Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.
3D games requires a lot to develop and
play. It requires a lot of money and a team of developers. It also
requires a lot out of your computer system. Anak Bathala does not
require much to develop and play. FYI: Nordenx does have some
experience making 3D MOFPS (Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter)
Games for another game engine. If this project is proven successful,
Nordenx has plans to make the transition to a 3D MMORPG engine once
appropriate funding is aquired.
This game was built
using the 1.4.2 version of the Player Worlds engine, a free game-engine
with which you can create and maintain your own 2D MMORPG. Go to
www.playerworlds.com
for more information or to download the server.
What is the difference between this game and Anito?
This question seems to come
up all the time. I guess AB will always be shadowed by Anito. Here is a Comparison
Chart for more info.
Yes, you can access and play
your account from different computers. To do this, you need to login on the
computer where you originally started the account from; click on the Security
Menu button (looks like a blue shield, 3rd button from the bottom right) and
turn off the security, then add your computer name on the safe list. I've received
reports that this method is buggy, if you can't get this to work properly use
the alternate method below:
There is also the SecuRemove Tool. When starting the game, from the startup
screen - click the SET NEW ACCESS button, the tool will pop-up, type your
username and password in the appropriate textboxes, then click the Send button.
A confirmation message should appear, you can now close the tool window and proceed
to play (click on the PLAT NOW! button)
Simply delete the "Kaelian Software" folder from your "C:\Program Files" or where ever you placed it in your computer and don't forget to delete the shortcut on your desk top. The installer should not have written anything in your computer's registry.
So you won't have to
download the entire client again when all you need is an update. If
there is a GFX update, you will be notified on the main news page and
through the in-game Message Of The Day.
The current game engine used
for the game (Player Worlds) has it's limitations. There is a list of RTEs and
their Fixes in the AB Section at PinoyForum.net.

Sound effects have not been implemented in the 1.4.2 version of Player Worlds. Music has however, but it is bugged beyond belief, so Anak Bathala decided not to use this feature at the moment. Furthermore, any music would have made the client.zip considerably larger.
If you really need a
fix of game music, get
WinAmp and tune in to
www.gamingfm.com
while playing. ;)
A lot of the items
on the list are to be found on quests - some as the reward, others are
just hidden deep inside jungles, mountains, and caves. And some items
are unique items, meaning that only one of them can be found in the
entire game.
Quests are missions
you can complete to receive a big reward, a valuable item or just a lot
of experience points. When you enter a bahay (house) and the
NPC inside has a request, that is a quest. Fulfil the request and
return to the house for a reward (usually activated using the 'trade'
button).
NPC stands for Non
Player Character. Any character you see that is not controlled by
another player is an NPC. You can talk to certain NPCs and by detecting
certain key words and they will respond. Read the section on "Talking
to NPCs" in the commands
page.
Anak Bathala's
setting is unique in its own, no other game world is set in the Ancient
Island Archipelago (Philippines) circa 1000AD. It features ancient Baybayin
scripts that you need to learn to decode. Original native sandata
(weaponry) and old Tagalog terminology is used for place names,
item
names, and magic crafts. Anak Bathala's world also contains many unique
mythical creatures from the islands, based on local folklore. Anak
Bathala brings a new genre of the South East Asian/Pacific Islands
mythology to the players while most current games are based on western
fantasy, mythologies, science fiction, etc.
Anak Bathala offers
6 character classes to choose from, with evolutions reaching up to
level 325; over 200 different pieces of equipment and magic spells;
lots of quests with multiple solutions; non-linear storyline, tons of
secrets to find and explore; and, most important of all, friendly and
helpful mods.
What is Baybayin?
Baybayin Script is the ancient writing from the Philippine archipelago. Learn more about it here: http://www.mts.net/~pmorrow/index.htm. Read about how Baybayin is used in the Anak Bathala game world in the Baybayin ng Anak Bathala page.
No. Anak Bathala is not really a game as such, it
is a game world. Nordenx is constantly adding parts and features to the
world, and you, the players, shape its form. It is also a part of the
bigger Anak Bathala Project which will continue to evolve.
Please bear in mind that the graphics for Anak Bathala are uniquely developed for it's world and may be limited in application. Unlike other Player World GFX, most of Anak Bathala's graphics are not generic "dungeons and dragons" or "Knights & Castles" or other 2D RPG type graphics. It is mostly made from scratch or re-edited from other pre-made graphics. If you would like to use some of the graphics in the game or from this site for public and/or commercial use, please contact nordenx@yahoo.com for permission first. Only a small number of sprites and tiles were re-edited from another PW game's GFX with consent; thanks, State of Conflict.
No, not at the
moment. We are very serious about who we choose as a moderator, so if
we need help, we'll be the ones asking.
